Ceylon Inn - Indian
February 4, 2008
Ceylon Inn serves great food in a prime social location. The Ceylon Inn located on Oxford Street Bulimba, is an Indian restaurant with character and appealing, appetising flavours. Its location on Oxford Street makes this restaurant a fantastic place to meet up with friends before or after a movie.
The food was filling and delicious, they offer the classic curries, as well as their own Ceylon special. The curries were enjoyable with a good balance and range of spices; however the rice lacked saffron and was a bit plain. The atmosphere created a secluded environment considering the location, and provided a surprisingly quiet place to talk without the need to yell over background noise. A small issue with cramped seating with some chairs in awkward positions, many close calls throughout the night with wine bottles and vases.
The service was polite and non intrusive, orders were taken accurately and with minimum fuss. Each sheet of the menu is contained in a plastic sleeve; however after the menu lurks an overload of empty plastic sleeves which was somewhat frustrating.
If you’re an experienced enthusiast of Indian cuisine looking for a unique curry experience then you can’t go past the lamb Ceylon. The delightful blend of spices and creamy taste makes for a curry you’ll struggle to find anywhere else (no wonder they call it their specialty).
