Three Monkeys Coffee and Tea House
February 2, 2008
The Three Monkeys Coffee and Tea House is a surprising cafe in West End, Brisbane. The place has heaps of character and makes a great place to catch up with friends, enjoy the food, atmosphere and company.
It’s located at 58 Mollison St, just a short walk from South Bank or the Queen St Mall. The staff are friendly but perhaps not overly customer-focussed, which isn’t really a problem as the Three Monkeys doesn’t try to be a meeting place for business professionals.
The interior of the cafe at first seems small and cramped, but following the seating reveals a surprising size for the seemingly small space. On every occasion that I’ve been there, seating has been at a premium. Most of the more comfortable or desirable positions have long been taken by other customers, and they will stay for hours so there is little hope of waiting people out.
Food there is quite nice. Nothing incredibly amazing, but not especially expensive either. Most meals have been of generous enough portions to be quite filling. The real appeal of the Three Monkeys however is the ambience and character of the place, not the food or location. It’s certainly somewhere I will visit again.
