Juno - cutest movie. ever.
February 2, 2008
Juno was probably the best movie this Summer in my opinion. Starring Ellen Page as Juno, a high-school girl who decides one day out of boredom to have sex with her virile friend Bleeker (played by Michael Cera), the movie follows the quirky journey that follows from the unexpected pregnancy.
I won’t delve into the rest of the plot details because I do recommend that everyone sees it. Juno’s acerbic wit and banter with other characters is great, and the humour is naturally thrown in with the conversation. The actors all take to their roles so naturally that you forget it’s a movie.
And Ellen Page? She is brilliant. Her acting is just so genuine and natural that you are totally convinced that every scene unfolding in front of you is a window into Juno’s life.
The movie isn’t going to be for everyone. It’s lacking in any form of action and it won’t be gracing the thriller aisles of your local video store… well… ever, but it’s a feel good movie that doesn’t feel cliched or artificial. The music at first irritated me a bit, but it just fits so well that you can’t help liking that in the end as well.
